Not much is known about Gold Springs, They have leveled all of the old historical building in the whole area. All justified in the name of private property and for the safety of others. Gold Springs is 75 miles west of St. George, Utah just off HWY 56.
This was the source of the gold that was first discovered at Pikes Diggings placers on the Utah Nevada stateline in the 1890’s.The area has many old cabins and many open mineshafts. It’s famous for its extremely rich outcrops of gold discovered in 1897. History has it that the gold ran 1000+ ounces to the ton. Early on some of the ore was shipped by armed guard all the way to Salt Lake City to be processed There is much evidence of a lot of mining at one time. They say there
was a 100 ton per day stamp mill for crushing the ore here at one time. This place is loaded with ATV trails going to mineshafts, tunnels, cabins, etc
